EMT-B Training (Rookie School)
MEMS offers college level training at our headquarters in downtown Little Rock. MEMS' EMT-B training, otherwise known as Rookie School, is usually held 3 times each year.

To be considered for MEMS EMT Rookie School, you must meet these requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Arkansas driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- Minimum age of 19.
- Must be physically fit and able to pass a physical examination.
- Must have acceptable scores on the college placement Accuplacer exam, which is offered onsite at MEMS at no cost.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screening.
- Must pass a criminal background check.
Suitable and qualified candidates are selected for Rookie School and are paid an hourly rate of $11.00 per hour while attending our 9-week, full-time in-house EMT training. After successfully completing the program and obtaining an Arkansas license and National Registry certification, full-time employment continues with field training. Once complete, graduates are eligible to bid for a full-time shift and be a part of an ambulance crew.
Licensed EMTs with no experience receive a starting base annual salary of $32,000 and full benefits (Hourly rate is calculated based on shifts assigned). After 1 year of service, base pay increases to $34,340.
